1) LAW COMMISSION SUBMITS REPORT ON LEPROSY
20th Law Commission headed by Justice (retd) Ajit Prakash Shah submitted its Report No 256 titled ‘Eliminating Discrimination against Persons Affected by Leprosy’ to the Union Ministry of Law and Justice. It recommended for repealing The Lepers Act, 1898 and removal of ‘leper’ word from various statutes as it is derogatory.

2) MoC ON TRANSPORTATION WITH USA
India and USA signed a Memorandum of Cooperation for transportation that would enable India to make use of world's latest technology available with the USA for projects like developments of waterways and multi-modal hub. It would cover areas like highways, urban transportation, safety and environmental protections, vehicle and behavioral safety, fuel efficiency, rail transportation and maritime shipping.
3) THANE WINS RENEWABLE ENERGY AWARD
An 11-member international jury has declared Thane, city in Maharashtra as the India’s National Earth Hour Capital as it won the Earth Hour City Challenge held in Seoul, South Korea. Seoul was declared the Global Earth Hour Capital 2015. The year-long competition among cities is aimed at promoting renewable energy and preparing for climate change.
4) FREE TREATMENT FOR ACID VICTIMS
The Supreme Court has asked all private hospitals across the country to provide full treatment free to acid attack victims, including medicines and expensive reconstruction surgeries.
The order came on a public interest litigation petition filed by Laxmi, an acid attack victim, following nine years of fighting for the rights of victims.
5) TARGET SET FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY
The conference of Power, Renewable Energy and Mines ministers of all states and union territories of India was held in Guwahati on April9-10. A target of generating 1 lakh 75 thousand megawatt of renewable energy in the next 5 year was set by Central govt.
6) INDUSTRIES GROW BY HEALTHY 5 %
Industrial production grew at nine-month high of 5 per cent in February on improved mining and manufacturing activity coupled with larger off take of capital goods. The factory output, as measured by the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), had declined by 2 per cent in February last year.
7) 17 MAJOR AGREEMENTS SIGNED WITH FRANCE
Agreement for supply of 36 Rafale fighter jets in flyaway condition as quickly as possible under a government-to-government deal.
Agreement to promote the stalled nuclear project in Jaitapur in Maharashtra where French company Areva in collaboration with Indian company Larsen and Toubro is to set up six nuclear reactors with a total power generation capacity of about 10,000 MW
8) INDIA ELECTED TO FOUR UN AGENCIES
India has been elected to four key subsidiary bodies of the United Nations' Economic and Social Council including the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). The other three bodies are - Executive Board of the World Food Programme; Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice and Governing Council of the UN Human Settlements Programme.
