Dear readers,
As you all are aware, already that State Bank of India has issued the notification, for the recruitment of Probationary officer. Now from 2015 onwards, State Bank of India has changed the exam pattern of Probationary Officer exam. As per the SBI PO 2015 notification, new pattern will have two - tier examinations Prelim & Main exam.
Many of you have applied and will apply for this exam. A candidate should know the pattern and syllabus of the exam, to qualify and to score good marks. So in order to help in your preparation, we are presenting you the detail pattern and syllabus of the SBI PO Tier II Main exam.

Selection process consists of three phases:
1. Phase I: Prelim Exam - Objective test - 100 Marks (Total time - 1 hr)
2. Phase II: Main Exam - Objective test + Descriptive test
3. Phase - III: Group Discussion (20 marks) & Interview (30 marks)
Note: Prelim Exam will consist of fewer questions and of shorter duration. The marks of Prelims exam will not be considered for preparing the final merit list.
Main Exam will consist of more questions and of longer duration. The marks Main Exam will only be considered for short listing for group discussion and personal interview.
Descriptive Test: Descriptive test will be conducted in Online Mode. Candidates will have to answer Descriptive test by typing on the computer. Immediately after completion of Objective Test, Descriptive Test will be administered.
Now let's discuss the pattern & syllabus of the Main (Tier II) Exam:
Phase II: Main Exam - The main exam will be held in two parts.
Part I - The Objective Test will be of 2 hours duration consists of 4 Sections with 50 marks each (Total 200 marks).
Part II - Descriptive Test: The Descriptive Test of 1 hour duration with 50 marks will be a Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay).
Pattern of the (Main Exam) Part I - objective test - Total Qs - 200 Total Marks - 200
1. English Language - 50 Qs 50 marks
2. General Awareness, Marketing & Computer - 50 Qs 50 marks
3. Data Analysis & Interpretation - 50 Qs 50 marks
4. Reasoning (High Level) - 50 Qs 50 marks
Syllabus of the Main Exam; Part I Objective test:
I. English Language - Level of Difficulty - Moderate
In English Language section questions are asked from different topics which are as follows:
1. Reading Comprehension - According to the previous year question paper there were two Reading Comprehensions.
2. Spotting Error
3. Fill in the blank
4. Cloze test
5. Para-Jumbles
II. General Awareness / Marketing / Computer - Level of Difficulty - Easy / Moderate
In GA/ Marketing / Computer section questions are asked from different topics which are occurred in last three or four months.
General Awareness include Banking Affairs also -
1. News related to Reserve Bank of India
2. Banking Awareness
3. Financial Awareness (Union Budget/ Railway Budget)
4. Economics news
5. Current Affairs - Questions can be asked from various fields such as: National, International, Awards, Sports, Defence, Summits, Appointment, Books & Authors and Obituary etc.
Marketing - In marketing questions are asked from different topics which are as follows:
1. Basics of Marketing
2. Marketing Strategies
3. Market Segmentation
4. Marketing Management
5. Marketing Mix
6. Developing stage of organization
7. Brand
8. Advertising
9. Products Life Cycle
10. 4 P's and 4 C's of marketing
Computer Knowledge: In computer questions are asked from different topics which are as follows:
1. Basic of Computer

5. Generation of Computer
6. Internet, etc
III. Data Analysis & Interpretation: Level of Difficulty - Difficult
This section covers different forms of D.I. which is based on
1. Tables
2. Pie - Charts
3. Bar Graphs
4. Data Analysis

IV. Reasoning (High level) - Level of Difficulty - Moderate / Difficult
In Reasoning section questions are asked from different topics which are as follows:

Part II - Descriptive Test - In descriptive section questions are asked from different topics like:

Note: The candidates will have to qualify both in Phase-II and Phase-III separately. For each wrong answers, there will be a negative marking of 1/4 marks in both prelim and main examination.
Final Selection: The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not be added for the selection and only the marks obtained in Main Examination (Phase-II) will be added to the marks obtained in GD & Interview (Phase-III) for preparation of the final merit list.
